In the most recent T20 matches that Pakistan has played against all the test playing nations, this was one of the best thrillers. Pakistan won the match in the super over and that too on the very last ball of the match.
Pakistan batted first in the match and scored 151 runs. It was a collective effort from Nasir Jamshed, Muhammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal who all scored 40 plus runs in their individual innings. Pakistan bowled well after their average batting performance.
The Dubai wicket was getting slower with the passage of time. The Australians were going in nicely during the chase and almost won the match but one last change by Muhammad Hafeez which was a gamble for sure played for him as a fortune changer.
Muhammad Hafeez handed the ball to Abdul Razzaq who didn’t bowl before in the match and it was also the last over of the innings and Australia needed a few runs to catch the win. This gamble worked and Razzaq was able to get the pricing wicket of George Bailey.
But right at the final stages Cummings was able to hit Razzaq for a huge six to level the scores. This put the match into the super over. Australia betted first in the super over and Umer Gul bowled that one over for Pakistan.
Umer Gul bowled some serious yorkers to both the Australian openers David Warner and Shane Watson. The two were unable to dig them and were scoring singles and doubles on the. Warner then flicked one intelligently and gained 4 runs down towards the deep fine leg.
Umer Gul was able to catch Warner on the next ball which was a slow bouncer and Warner who went for a pull edged it high towards long off where Umer Akmal took an easy catch. Umer Gul gave 10 runs in that over and Pakistan needed 11 to win.
From Pakistan came Umer Akmal and Abdul Razzaq as the batting openers and Cummings got the ball in his hands. The first ball was completely missed by Umer. It was a slower ball outside the off stump and Umer over ran it when he stepped outside his crease to hit it hard.
